Frequently Asked Questions

Starting therapy can bring up a lot of questions—especially if you're neurodivergent, have had invalidating experiences in the past, or just want to make sure this will be a safe and supportive space. Below are some of the most common questions people ask when they’re thinking about working with me.

It means I respect and embrace neurodiversity as a natural and valuable part of being human.  Therapy isn’t about fixing you—it’s about supporting you in a way that honors your unique brain and experience.

Nope! You don’t need to fit a label to be supported here. Whether you're formally diagnosed, self-identified, questioning, or just curious about your lived experience, you're welcome here.  I recognize the barriers many people face in accessing formal diagnosis, and also have a deep respect for those who desire to remain undiagnosed. Your self-knowledge and lived experience are more than enough.

We’ll use the first session however you would like, but typically, we will to get to know each other, connect about what’s bringing you in, and if you give me permission, I might ask you a few questions so I know how to help you best. We might set some goals or simply just get comfortable sharing the space with each other. The beauty of the process is that you are in control.

I work with neurodivergent clients across the lifespan—from children and teens developing social and behavioral skills, to adults and couples navigating relationships and personal goals, to older adults who bring a lifetime of unique experiences. My passion is supporting people of all ages in ways that feel empowering, affirming, and tailored to their stage of life.

As a highly sensitive person myself, I have my own unique lived experience of being neurodivergent which helps me deeply empathize with your unique lived experience. Basically--I get it.  Additionally, I have extensive experience and in-depth professional training focused specifically on supporting individuals, couples and families within the neurodivergent community, so you can be assured you will receive experienced, professional and expert care.

You are in control of what feels best for your unique situation.  Most people start weekly or biweekly, and we can adjust as needed based on your schedule and goals. This is about you and your needs, so if it would be helpful, we can discuss what frequency of support you feel is best for you.

Yes, I offer both in-person and online therapy for clients in Colorado.  You can access support from wherever feels most comfortable.

Nope. You're welcome to move, look away, be quiet, stim, or communicate in ways that feel most natural and safe for you. There are no rigid expectations in our sessions. I have lots of tools and interventions that support alternative ways of communication and self-expression, so come as you are!

Anything that matters to you—like identity, burnout, masking, sensory overload, anxiety, relationships, family, boundaries, parenting, sex and sexuality, shame, trauma, joys, triumphs and more. Anything, and I mean anything, is a safe topic to discuss.  Your experiences are valid, real, and deeply human.

I recognize that neurodivergence doesn’t exist in a vacuum, and I approach therapy with an understanding of how different parts of your identity and experiences may intersect—including race, gender, class, sexuality, spirituality, background, culture and more.

I use the language that feels most respectful and comfortable for you. Some people prefer person-first language (like "person with autism"), while others prefer identity-first (like "autistic person"). Just let me know your preference—I'm here to honor and support your identity, in the way that feels right to you.

Of course. There’s no rush and no pressure to share anything before you're ready. Building a safe, trusting relationship is part of the process.

Absolutely. Therapy isn’t just about what's hard—it’s also about celebrating what makes you feel alive, connected, and uniquely you. I love learning about all of the unique perspectives and experiences my clients bring to me day in and day out.
