In a world where social expectations and norms are central, living with a mind that is neurodiverse can be stressful and daunting. It can also be beautiful and rewarding.
Many different therapies exist for individuals who have been diagnosed with high functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder. Common interventions include behavioral, developmental, educational, pharmacological, occupational, and psychological therapies. These are all valuable, helpful, and wonderful interventions if implemented well!
At Inclusive Minds Counseling, I offer a social/relational approach to complement other therapies available to clients. With my diverse background and training, I use a variety of different therapeutic interventions that help clients with Asperger's Syndrome or high functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder.
These interventions include but are not limited to social thinking strategies, social behavior mapping, activities that increase motivation, interest, and abilities to participate in shared social interactions, and how to handle the unexpected. Together we will process what it is like to live with Asperger's Syndrome or ASD and make meaning of your experience. I will listen attentively to your needs, offer alternative ways of communicating, and work to help each individual feel less isolated or anxious. Our work will help you feel more connected and confident in social interactions.
